“Enisey” at home defeated Latvian VEF in the VTB United League championships – 88:71.
To a personal meeting the opponents came up with the same result – 11 victories and 10 losses, dividing between them the 6th place. Success in this game is almost guaranteed the winner a higher seed in the playoffs.
VEF began the match more actively. Due to the pressure and pick-and-roll players from Riga took the lead in the score. The forward of Krasnoyarsk team Suleiman Braimoh turned the tide. With his appearance on the court the Siberians had established good defence and started to reduce a difference in the score.
At the end of the third quarter the hosts made the decisive step. A series of 4 three-points shoots were the basis of the rapid breakthrough of “Enisey”. The advantage of Siberians for the first time became more than 10 points – 62:48. They continued to press the opponent in the final quarter. The difference in the score continued to grow and at some time reached 24 points – 77:53. The result of the match was decided.
Suleiman Braimoh scored in the match 18 points and made 7 rebounds, Frank Elegar – 13 points and 11 rebounds, Tony Taylor – 14 points and 5 assists, Vasily Zavoruev – 11 points.
In the match against “Avtodor” Frank Elegar made another double-double (12 points and 11 rebounds). It became the 21st in his career in the VTB League. By this measure, he surpassed Ivan Maras achievement and became the champion of the tournament.
“Enisey” has won in this match – 97:92. For Siberians this success was the fifth in a row in the VTB United League.
