The women’s basketball team of Russia has been announced for the European Women’s Basketball Championship qualification

The new head coach of the Russian national women’s basketball team, Alexander Kovalev, named 15 candidates to participate in the games with Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 14 and Estonia on November 17. Among them are Ksenia Tikhonenko and Daria Namok.

To prepare for the first two qualifying matches of Eurobasket-2021 15 players were called: guards Natalia Zhedik (Dynamo, Kursk), Elizaveta Komarova (MBA), Ksenia Levchenko (Sparta&K), Anna Leshkovtseva (MBA), Karina Nizamova (Nadezhda), forwards Tatyana Vidmer (Dynamo K), Anna Zaitseva (Rostov-Don), Anastasia Logunova (MBA), Raisa Musina (UMMC), Daria Namok (Nadezhda), Ksenia Tikhonenko (Nadezhda), Anastasia Shilova (Nadezhda), Natalia Anoikina (Dinamo K), Maria Vadeeva (UMMC), Albina Razheva (Nadezhda).

Another 9 basketball players are included in the reserve list. These are guards Victoria Zavyalova (UMMC), Camilla Ogun (Sparta&K), Ekaterina Fedorenkova (IBA), Jamierra Faulkner (UMMC), forwards Adelina Abayburova (Herner), Julia Gladkova (Satu-Mare), Zhosselina Maiga (Gozselina Maiga, Poland), Tatiana Sema (Sparta&K), Elizaveta Shabanova (Dynamo K).

The team will gather at the base in Novogorsk on November 10, and in the morning of the 12th will go to Orenburg for the match with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The game itself will be held on November 14, the next day the team will return to Novogorsk, and in a day will fly to Tallinn, where it is waiting for a meeting with Estonia on November 17.

Eurobasket qualification will be held in three “windows” (November-2019, November-2020 and February-2021), in each of which the teams will play two matches. In qualifying group C, Switzerland will be the rival of the Russian women in addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Estonia. The winners of the groups will receive the final tournament, as well as five of the nine best (by additional indicators) second place winners.
