The expanded list of the country’s men’s national team for the November matches of the Eurobasket qualifying tournament includes 29 players, 6 of whom are representatives of the ProTeam agency.
– guards – Denis Zakharov (Zenit, St. Petersburg, 27 years old, 193 cm), Gleb Sheiko (Parma, 24 years old, 196 cm),
– forwards – Semen Antonov (CSKA, 31 years old, 202 cm), Andrey Lopatin (CSKA, 22 years old, 208 cm), Vladislav Trushkin (Zenit, 27 years old, 201 cm),
– center – Anton Pushkov (Zenit, 32 years old, 208 cm).
Starting from November 22, the Russians, who won one of the two starting meetings, will hold a mini-training camp in St. Petersburg, and then go to Tallinn for games with Estonia (November 28) and Italy (November 30).
Recall that in September FIBA announced that the remaining qualifying matches of the continental championships will be held in “bubbles” – closed perimeters with a special antiviral regime. Tallinn became the hoster of the bubble in Group B. Venues for the February “windows” of Eurobasket 2022 qualification will be determined later.
Trips to the final tournament (it was postponed from 2021 and should be held in 4 countries – Georgia, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy) will go to three teams from each qualifying group. The Italians, as hosts, are guaranteed to play in the European Championship, while the other three teams will compete for the two remaining places.
