Astana defeats Zenit at home in a VTB United League match. The game started with the home team’s advantage, which led by four points to the first break. In the second part of the game Astana managed to make an impressive break, after which Zenit had a hard time recovering – by the break the score was already 57:39 in favor of the team of Emil Raikovich.
However, in the third quarter, Zenit managed to close the gap almost completely – 31:15 in favor of the guests in the third quarter and only one point behind in the final ten-minute period. In the fourth quarter, the struggle was equal, but in the final seconds Astana was three points apart, but Dmitry Khvostov made a three-pointer and saved Zenit from losing in the main time in a matter of seconds to the siren.
But in overtime, the hosts were still the strongest, with only one point difference. The final score of the match was 109:108.
Astana’s Isaiah Whitehead scored 20 points and Malcolm Hill scored 15.
