During the qualifying tournament, the Czechs beat at home the national teams of Iceland (89:69), Finland (77:73), Bulgaria (81:75), Russia (80:78), and the Finnish national team (64:56), Bulgaria (78: 76), Bosnia and Herzegovina (85:80) in away games and took 2nd place in group K.
