In connection with the epidemic of the coronavirus, FIBA and the Euroleague canceled for an indefinite period all the matches of European competition. Both organizations noted that the decision was made in order to protect the health and safety of players, coaches, officials and fans. The coronavirus epidemic increases the risk of disease for all game participants, and growing restrictions on movement around Europe and a large number of malfunctions in the flight schedule make it impossible to reach a number of destinations.
Moreover, the Euroleague decision came into force today (in particular, the match CSKA – Alba was canceled), and the competitions held under the auspices of the International Basketball Federation were canceled from tomorrow.
FIBA and the Euroleague will daily monitor all further events and evaluate possible options in case of the possibility of continuing the tournaments.
